ABOUT ME
"I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free."
-Wendell Berry
MY STORY
Hello my name is Stan and my journey started as born and raised on Potrero hill, a working class neighborhood in
San Francisco, California, USA. Our neighborhood a melting pot of immigrants from all over the planet, which prepared me to see the world through a kaleidoscope of experience of others, it seemed most people brought a slice of their home of origin to San Francisco and this rich upbringing formed the foundation of my photography adventures later in life.
but alike the immigrants that inspire me, equally there are the indigenous people who populated these lands long before Europeans set foot on its shores, people who lived in peace and coexisted with nature. People like the Kashia Pomo of what is now central Sonoma County and Bodega Bay.
Tule Basket Is My Camera
These Kashia Pomo lived off the land gathering bounty in tule
reed baskets including seafood from the central coast, I liken My photography and camera to those baskets, gathering sustenance for eyes, heart and spirit, frozen moments in time. Landscape and wildlife photography is a captivating pursuit that allows this photographer to capture beauty and diversity of the wild world and the land they inhabit
Though only part of the wonderful poem by Wendall Berry "Peace Of Wild" is as close to true freedom (if only momentary)
this photographer can get and share through my camera lens with you dear reader.
